Melbourne’s rapidly expanding suburb Williams Landing will soon offer a wider variety of living options.
Developed by Cedar Woods Properties, Newton Apartments is the first ever apartment building to be developed in Williams Landing, and one of only a small number of multi- residential buildings to ever be constructed in Melbourne’s middle-ring western suburbs.
The development responds to consumer, state government and local government demand for higher density in Melbourne’s south western sub-region to cater for population growth.
According to a September 2015 Urbis report on Williams Landing, the south western sub- region is expected to accommodate some 1.1 million people by 2031, an increase of approximately 400,000 from today’s population of 700,000.
Newton Apartments presents a unique opportunity to purchase an architecturally designed dwelling well below the Williams Landing typical house and land package price of circa $600,000. Prices for the apartments will range from the high $200,000s to the mid $300,000s dependent on size.
“Cedar Woods intends to deliver competitively priced apartments into this quickly maturing market that will provide a compelling opportunity for investors and first home owners alike.,” says Cedar Woods development director Patrick Archer.
The Newton Apartments development will feature eight one-bedroom apartments, 24 two- bedroom/one-bathroom apartments and 25 two-bedroom/two-bathroom apartments across four storeys.
With a majority of two-bedroom dwellings, the development also caters to a current market demand for larger apartment sizes to suit family living.
“Melbourne’s west already features considerable family homes, but we wanted to ensure the desires of all buyers are being catered to in Williams Landing,” Archer says.
“We’ve prioritised developing larger apartments that will cater to families in a sustainable way to support Melbourne’s growth.”
Located on the former Laverton RAAF aviation base, the design of Newton pays tribute to the site’s rich history, inspired by the shapes and shadows of aircraft.
The creation of a dynamic town centre and ‘walkable community’ has been of utmost importance to Cedar Woods.
The Newton Apartments site is located within walking distance to the Williams Landing Shopping Centre local parks and reserves. Residents of Williams Landing have also benefited from recent upgrades to public transport infrastructure and the development of a new major railway station and bus interchange.
“The proximity of the site to the Williams Landing train station and bus interchange also provides easy access to public transport which is exceedingly rare in the western suburbs of Melbourne,” Archer says.
Sales of Newton Apartments will launch late-October 2015. A sales office is located at 3 Opsum Way, Williams Landing and is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11am to 5pm.
Construction of the building is estimated to commence mid-2016.
