What did you wear to work today?
We’re in the thick of summer, so I’ve opted for a vintage white linen shirt that I bought during a recent trip to Italy, a pair of cropped, flared trousers from Maticevski, black suede mules, and my beloved Natasha Schweitzer silver hoop earrings. I like to feel polished and professional in my work attire, but always with an unexpected or playful touch to keep it interesting.
Who or what inspired you the most today?
I’m currently putting together ideas for a media campaign for a milestone anniversary of one of our clients. Delving into the breadth of this clients’ work and identifying how to translate its incredible creative vision into an event is seriously inspiring! I’ve also just caught up on watching the speech Oprah gave at the Golden Globes. I’m thinking of campaigning for a transcript to be handed out to every school leaver, CEO, and politician in 2018…
What was your most impactful/interesting meeting today and why?
Today, account director Nat Burcul and I met with a potential new client to discuss how we could assist him and his growing business. Without giving too much away, his entrepreneurial spirit was infectious and both Nat and I were so impressed with his vision for the brand. I get excited at the prospect of working with clients that aren’t afraid to think really big about what their brand could be.
What is the view from your desk?
I’m a real believer in clean and unfussy environments. I don’t think it’s possible to think clearly when your desk is chaotic. I have a copy of the eternally useful The Elements of Style at hand at all times, but otherwise I’m a bit of a minimalist. In addition to my digital calendar, today I’ve been entering my agenda into my new 2018 diary. Is it old-fashioned to have a physical diary? Even with all the technology surrounding me, I couldn’t live without pen and paper.
What was for lunch today?
Today, I met with a social media influencer over lunch at Gilson in South Yarra to discuss how her following could work for one of our clients, Sussex Taps. I had a tomato, basil, and burrata salad that really hit the spot. It’s great to get out of the office for lunch, especially during the warmer months. Gilson has become a CC favourite this summer – we all share a mutual appreciation for the restaurant’s elegant and understated design. And pizza, of course.
What is your afternoon pick-me-up?
Our office dog Teddy is still quite young and energetic, so he needs walks throughout the day to keep him from pouncing on us. Midway through the afternoon I like to take him out for a brisk walk, and pick up an iced latte while I’m at it. Limiting my afternoon caffeine intake is one of my challenges for 2018. That, and my borderline delirious obsession with pastry.
