Hayball is delighted to announce that Serrata apartments, developed by Lend Lease in Victoria Harbour, Docklands in Melbourne, has been recognised with two architecture awards. Serrata took out both Residential Architecture: Multiple Housing, and the Urban Design categories of the Australian Institute of Architects’ Victorian Architecture Awards 2013.
The jury for the urban design category noted that “the innovative introduction of low rise apartments accessed from the street, along with small-scale retail, transforms the typical high-rise apartment solution”.
The jury for the multi-residential category commented that “the planning and architectural form demonstrated a carefully considered response to the needs of residential occupants and the local community” which will see Serrata “stand as a long- term exemplar for high density city living”.
Hayball would like to thank Lend Lease, who set high sustainability and design aspirations for the project; local and state government authorities, and the full consultant team who collaborated on the project, particularly acknowledging the role of Aspect | Oculus (joint venture) Urban Design and Landscape who, “skilfully folded an urban landscape quality into the project” with carefully integrated landscape elements and play spaces.
