The 2012 Venice Biennale begins later this month. Directed by David Chipperfield and titled Common Ground, the 13th international architecture biennale will run from 29th August to 25th November 2012.

Once again Australia has a strong representation. The theme for the Australian Pavilion this year is FORMATIONS – New Practices in Australian Architecture.

Australia ‘s recent architectural and design achievements are truly significant, to the point where country is now recognised as one of the world’s top eight for progressive architecture. In turn, Australia has a strong presense presence at the Biennale, as participation at this event is imperative in growing Australia’s international reputation. The Australian Institute of Architects have supported the pavilion since 2006, and is committed to ensuring Australia’s involvement at the 2014 and 2016 Biennales.

This year, Anthony Burke and Gerard Reinmuth, working in close collaboration with design studio TOKO, are heading the creative team.

As media advisor for the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects, Communications Collective will be in attendance in Venice, the only independent PR and communications agency in Australia to have a presence at this year’s event. We are excited to be attending and representing Australian architects on an international platform.
