The site of the historic Yorkshire Brewery, in Collingwood, is set to become a thriving residential space, with redevelopment work recently commenced.
The redevelopment of the site will include some $6.7 million of restoration and heritage works, as well as the development of a thriving residential space, complete with gym, café, convenience store and a number of community spaces.
Designed by Hayball the development will feature three new residential towers, holding 350 apartments, among a range of other housing typologies, and will extensively reference the site’s industrial history.
Hayball Managing Director, Tom Jordan said, “It was our intent to deliver buildings that harness and respected the genius loci and history of the site.”
Timber, exposed brick and concrete have been incorporated to emphasise and complement the existing brew tower and stables, which will become the centrepiece of the new development.
The development has the potential to transform its location and bring new life to the southern end of Collingwood.
