GEELONG DESIGN WEEK – City of Greater Geelong

Geelong Design Week is an annual celebration of creativity, innovation and design’s ability to shape the future of regional communities. Across 11 days, the festival brings together exhibitions, talks, workshops, tours and installations that showcase local stories, talent and design-led solutions, reinforcing Geelong’s position as a UNESCO City of Design.

Communications Collective developed a targeted public relations campaign to elevate Geelong Design Week’s profile beyond the region and position it as a leading design showcase in Victoria. The strategy combined event storytelling with industry engagement, influencer outreach and thought leadership, using the festival’s diverse program as a platform to generate broader cultural and design conversations. This approach was specifically designed to increase awareness, drive participation and connect the festival with new audiences across Victoria.

Campaign activity has included artist profiles, interviews with regional and First Nations creatives, commentary from festival spokespeople, targeted event listings and post-event reviews. This has helped create multiple audience entry points into the festival while consistently reinforcing its regional and design credentials.

"The team has been fantastic to work with, very engaged and driven. Their strategies aligned perfectly with our goals, successfully pitching Geelong Design Week stories to design-centred media and influencers across Victoria, making both events the most attended Geelong Design Weeks to date. Their proven track record of delivering exceptional results and nuanced understanding of our strategic objectives made them the natural choice for continued partnership."
