The Commons brings happy hour twist to flagship CBD venues
September 2026 – With a fresh take on the timeless tradition of after-work drinks, coworking leaders The Commons are offering bottomless fries with classic or signature cocktail orders after 4pm on Thursdays and Fridays at its Collins Street, Melbourne and Martin Place, Sydney, in their Commons Bar locations.
The Commons has built a reputation for defying conventional notions of ‘work’, with a portfolio of locations that integrate coworking facilities with wellness amenities and hospitality venues. The unlimited fries offer further blurs the lines between business and leisure, inviting workers to eat, drink and socialise onsite after hours.
Open to The Commons members and the general public, guests who order a classic or signature cocktail can customise their unlimited fries with a menu of seasonings and house-made sauces. Familiar flavours such as Salt & Vinegar and Truffle Aioli sit alongside more adventurous options including Toasted Nori & Sesame, Chicken & Tarragon, Pineapple Barbecue and Black Garlic Aioli.
Alongside the unlimited fries offering at the Commons Bar, a brand new food menu has been specifically designed with the after-work drinks and snack experience in mind. Frank Berardi, chef at The Commons, has expanded the menu at the Commons Bar, building a menu around easy-to-share plates to pair alongside the variety of drinks available.
“When I was asked to craft the new menu for the Commons Bar, I knew what we offered needed to be something both delicious and recognisable. After the success of the unlimited fries, expanding on that ‘new style’ of bar menus was something I was really excited about,” said Frank.
“I was given the freedom to play around with different flavours without being tied to one specific cuisine. I was able to craft a menu that tasted great and paired well with the drink selections we have available. From what we’ve heard from both members of The Commons and the new faces walking through the doors for the first time, we know that great tasting, simple food is the best way to entice people to keep coming back.”
The new menu and unlimited fries adds another drawcard to The Commons’ growing hospitality experience, with its public-facing cafés and bars increasingly designed to hold their own against traditional city venues. Created with Melbourne-based studio DesignOffice, the Collins Street and Martin Place spaces transition from daytime cafés and meeting spaces into lively bars after hours.
As The Commons marks its tenth anniversary in 2026, the bold new hospitality offering is a testament to how far the business has evolved from its first coworking space in Collingwood. More than just a coworking venue, The Commons continues to shift into a lifestyle brand, now spanning 19 locations across Melbourne and Sydney. Workspaces sit alongside public-facing bars, integrated health clubs and community experiences designed to carry people from the start of the working day well into the evening.
