FUTURE HOMES – Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning

Communications Collective was engaged by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) and the Office of the Victorian Government Architect (OVGA) to develop the communications strategy for Future Homes – a Victorian Government initiative promoting high-quality medium-density housing.

In response to Melbourne’s continuing population growth, the Future Homes project was created to enable gentle density increases in the suburbs. The project aimed to deliver amenity-rich, light-filled apartment designs that could be adapted to various sites. The vision was to produce better outcomes for Victorians through improved design quality, sustainability and housing choices.

Using quantitative and qualitative industry research and stakeholder consultation, Communications Collective developed an engagement strategy to position the initiative with key audiences including government, developers, architects, builders and the wider industry. Our approach helped shape public opinion and drive endorsement of the concept by building awareness and support for the program.

"CC’s fresh take on how to combine community and stakeholder research with the creation of a future-focused communications plan and engagement strategy has helped us communicate our commitment to high-quality, liveable and sustainable housing where people want to live. Their knowledge of the Australian media landscape is second-to-none and we found great value in their hands-on approach to campaign development and stakeholder relations.”
